The African Lion, also known as the Southern or Southeast African lion, is one of the “Big Five”. As a dominant apex predator, this subspecies is renowned for its power, courage, and social hunting behavior. Lions have long been feared and revered, with their ability to charge at close range making them one of the most dangerous animals encountered by hunters on foot.

Average shoulder height is 120 cm (47") and average weight is 190–225 kg (419–496 lbs) for males.
