The Gemsbuck, also known as an “Oryx”, symbolises the spirit of the Namib Dessert and can be found in many early bushman rock drawings. The Oryx is regarded as one of the most handsome antelope and is also highly adaptable to its dry, hot, and arid surroundings. Legend has it that the myth of the unicorn may have originated from a one-horned Oryx.
Average shoulder height is 120 cm (47”) and an average weight is 220 kg (485 lbs).
